On June the 4th 1998 I was back at the Cheltenham Town Hall, this time it was for THE CLASSIC SOUL SHOW. This was a Soul Covers Band who performed hits from BOOKER T and the M.G.'s, THE MARQUEES, OTIS REDDING, WILSON PICKETT, and SAM & DAVE.

The show was set in five parts, first to come on stage were the people playing BOOKER T and the M.G.'s, then the people playing the brass section of THE MARQUEES came on stage by coming through the Audience. Next to come on stage was someone performing OTIS REDDING tracks, then another person came on to perform WILSON PICKETT tracks, after the WILSON PICKETT set, the person who performed as OTIS REDDING came back on stage and the two of them performed as SAM & DAVE.

Tracks performed in the show included, TIME IS TIGHT, SOUL LIMBO, GREEN ONIONS, TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS, MUSTANG SALLY, HEY JUDE, SOUL MAN, and SOUL SISTER BROWN SUGAR.

A few months later I discovered that the set-up of the show was pretty accurate, in that BOOKER T and the M.G.'s, and THE MARQUEES did actually back OTIS REDDING, WILSON PICKETT, and SAM & DAVE.
